酒場 ダルマ
Below ground near Kanda Station, 酒場 ダルマ serves its signature highball over a clear pillar of ice, alongside beef-broth oden, shiso-and-squid dumplings, a wide whisky selection and plenty of izakaya dishes.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The Ice-Pillar Kaku Highball, served with a clear, square column of ice standing upright in the glass, is the signature drink to try first at 酒場 ダルマ. Refills come at increasingly favourable prices, and there are plenty of highballs to choose from, including the ice-free Toro Kaku Highball and an Ice-Pillar Highball scented with roasted green tea. To go with that crisp, refreshing drink, try signature dishes such as shiso-and-squid dumplings brimming with savoury broth or beef tendon simmered until tender.
There is also a generous choice of small plates, including beef-broth oden with daikon and beef tendon deeply infused with flavour, and fried daikon coated in that same savoury broth. These are warming, satisfying options to share or enjoy at your own pace. The menu also ranges from freshly fried chicken karaage and liver dressed in fragrant onion sauce to fresh chunks of tuna and a three-piece sashimi selection, making it easy to put together a spread to suit different tastes.
Whisky drinkers will find plenty to explore, from classic Kakubin and Suntory Old to Japanese-produced Hakushu and Yamazaki, along with whiskies from around the world. There are snacks to linger over with a glass, too, including a platter of raisin butter and nama chocolate cream cheese, as well as smoked cheese—good company for a slower-paced drink.
Just below ground near Kanda Station, the lively space has a welcoming feel, with counter seating as well as booth-style tables where groups can gather. It suits a casual solo stop after work as well as a group meal over a course with all-you-can-drink service that includes the signature highball. On busy evenings, booking ahead is recommended.
